Have you ever wanted to keep Bees, but don’t know where to start? You’ve come to the right place. In this workshop, we will discuss the basics of beekeeping; biology, terminology and what it takes to be a beekeeper. This class is for beginners or novice beekeepers but no prior experience is required. Your host Kellen Kanzius has been keeping bees for the past 5 years and will share his experience maintaining a small scale Apiary here in San Diego. Beekeeping is a complex form of animal husbandry as well as a life long learning experience and this work shop aims to give you the building blocks required to begin your journey as a beekeeper.

Growing your own food may seem tough but when it comes to growing microgreens no “green thumb” is required. In this workshop, your hosts Robin Kanzius and Kellen Kanzius will discuss their 8 years of experience growing microgreens here in San Diego. In the workshop we teach you how to grow microgreens for yourself or at a business scale. We also discuss; variety differences, seed sourcing, nutrition and ultimately why you should be growing microgreens. You will also make and take your own microgreen tray to grow at home. The goal of the class is to leave with enough knowledge to get started on your microgreen journey immediately.

Market Garden Workshop Series

Join our Market Garden Workshop Series in Southeast San DIego! Learn a regenerative approach to urban agriculture and create a market garden/ food forest in a hands-on experience over the course of two months. This project will be implemented from start to finish, and each weekend will be focused on a different phase. Choose one or as many workshops as you’d like, but please sign-up in advance for there is LIMITED SPACE for each workshop. This workshop series is intended to offer the community a unique insight into what is possible in our urban neighborhoods, while creating a template that can be adopted into any garden. Our intention is to give access to a more local food exchange utilizing skills and resources that have been accumulated by the community, for the community. Come learn, play, and enjoy with us!

Wicking-Bed Workshop

Ever wanted an innovative way of growing food or herbs with less water? 

Join us Saturday, April 27th for our hands-on workshop! Well be sharing our knowledge on WICKING-BEDS, and epic alternative way to grow food with less maintenance and water input, while giving purpose to otherwise wasted resources 🌿

In this workshop we will be up-cycling old food-grade IBC Totes into 4 wicking bed gardens. You will walk away with knowledge on:

-Passive irrigation

-Up-cycling materials

-3 Layers of a Wicking-Bed

We learned about this technique in Jordan, a very dry/arid landscape, and felt its importance to share here in our coastal desert landscape. We are so excited to share with you all! Please bring water, a notepad, and gloves.
